(1892 1902 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Carl Alexander, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of DEM VERDIENST (FOR MERIT), within an oak leaf wreath, the obverse maker marked HELFRICHT F., the edge with a silver
